KARMA ZOPA JIGME

(Christopher Rose)

A native New Mexican, born in the high desert mountains of Taos, Zopa studied English literature at Pomona College before traveling extensively in India, Nepal, and Australia. He began his studies of Tibetan Buddhism at Rigpe Dorje Institute of Pullahari Monastery in Nepal in 2001, and served on the Kagyu Monlam organizing committee for several years.

A student of Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche, Zopa studied Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, meditation, and Tibetan language for ten years in Asia before undertaking traditional three-year meditation cloister in the Karma Kagyu lineage at Vajra Vidya Retreat Center in Crestone, Colorado under the auspices of Kyabje Thrangu Rinpoche, led by Khenpo Jigme and Khenpo Lobzang.

Zopa and Yeshe started Prajna Fire in 2016, as a global community and gateway for Dharma talks focused on empowering fellow Westerners to integrate the Dharma into their lived experience through the tried and true pedagogy of the Buddha.

He lives on Tewa and Pueblo lands in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Pullahari Monastery in Kathmandu.
